The villa
Set in the peaceful countryside between the city of Modica and the coast, this carefully restored historic residence offers an authentic rural escape rich in character and heritage. Surrounded by traditional landscapes and close to a working family mill, the property blends original architectural features with thoughtful interior details that reflect local craftsmanship. It is particularly well suited to groups of friends or extended families seeking a tranquil retreat, while remaining within easy reach of the sea and nearby towns.
The approach road leads through an impressive wrought iron gate into a charming internal courtyard, known as a baglio, which forms the heart of the villa. From here, guests can access the main living spaces, including a large kitchen and dining area designed for shared meals and relaxed gatherings. The interiors showcase regional materials such as stone walls, handcrafted ceramics and wooden furnishings. Two double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms are accessed directly from the courtyard, while a further double bedroom with en-suite facilities is reached from the dining area. A separate annexe provides an additional quadruple bedroom, also with its own bathroom. Three separate units, located in a nearby building and accessed from the same courtyard, each offer a double bedroom on the ground floor, a mezzanine level with twin beds, and a private bathroom. The main living area leads out to the garden and terrace, where a heated swimming pool is surrounded by sun loungers, while a covered dining area and gas barbeque provides the perfect space for alfresco dining in the warmer months.
The surrounding area offers a wealth of attractions to explore, including the historic town of Scicli , located around 10 km away, known for its baroque architecture and charming streets. The nearby coastline enables guests to enjoy sandy beaches and clear waters of Marina di Modica , while Modica itself offers a dramatic hillside setting and renowned chocolate-making tradition. Visitors can also discover the cultural heritage of the wider region, with opportunities for sightseeing, local cuisine experiences and scenic drives through the Sicilian countryside.
